Soft toys are one of the most unusual categories of items being sold on Ebay. Most people have no idea that there are actually people making money selling soft toys, usually used, or well-loved as the descriptions will often say. Yes, those bags of stuffed animals that most people have in their closets or attics usually have some items of value inside, and the particular ones that have value would surprise most people.
Setting up an Ebay shop to sell soft toys can be a lucrative source of income. Finding a source for soft toys, or stuffed animals, is not too hard to do. Thrift stores and yard sales are great places to find what is needed to set up an Ebay shop. Most sources of newer stuffed animals at wholesale are not going to be what customers are seeking when they visit an online shop for soft toys. That odd little stuffed dog from 1974 or that unusual Mon Chi Chi monkey from the 1980's is more along the lines of what people will be purchasing.
Prices paid for stock needs to be as low as possible because it is a hit or miss thing; what would appear to be marketable is not always what sells. Lost loveys are one of the best money makers for those who sell soft toys.
When someone is setting up an Ebay shop, they can expect to get a great deal of correspondence from folks searching for a replacement for a purple turtle from 2004 that their child lost on vacation. However, the best customers for soft toys are people who want to recapture a childhood memory with a particular long lost friend, be it a Care Bear or a Strawberry Shortcake soft doll. They know what they want and they have the money to get it when they find it.
