Off-duty Officer Killed in Motorcycle Crash Near Palm City
A San Diego police officer, who was off-duty, died when he crashed his motorcycle near Palm City, according to the San Diego Police Department. As reported on CBS8 San Diego, police officer Christopher Blakeley died around 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2011. He was 26, and a 3-year veteran of the San Diego Police Department.
Blakeley had been driving his motorcycle fast as he headed west on Main Street, according to witnesses who stated he did not stop at a red light when he approached Hollister Street. Blakeley's motorcycle hit a pickup truck, which caused the pickup to roll over, San Diego police Lt. Andra Brown said. The people in the truck had minor injuries.
A resident of Chula Vista, Blakeley is survived by his mother and brother. Blakeley's death is a tragedy, and we offer our condolences to all who knew him, and mourn his passing.
