Plus Size Clothing for Women – Three Funky Trends for Winter

One of the fun things about the change of seasons is seeing what the designers have come up with. Trends come and go and like most things run in cycles. Plus size clothing for women is not immune to the trends on the catwalks and runways. While designers may have to make small adjustments, such as a bit less skin showing and a bit more room in the back end, plus size women want the same style and fun as their straight size counterparts. While women Europe and North America are worrying about their tan lines and heading to the beaches, down under it is cold and the winter wind is blowing up skirts. Winter is a great time to try out new trends and in plus size clothing for women there are three funky and fun trends for you to try out.

Attention Solider!

Military styling is one of the hottest trends in plus size clothing for women this winter just be careful no to over do it, a little bit of military styling goes a long way. You don't want to look like you're headed to the front lines. Shirts and coats with epaulettes, brass buttons, and khaki are all on tap for this season. Try pairing a military style coat or jacket with a cami or shirt made from a soft fabric like silk for a balanced look. If you have a large bust, forego the double breasted jackets and try a simply styled coat instead. All shades of khaki are in this season and you can find it from beige to dark green.

Little Bo Peep

Shearling is another popular plus size clothing for women trend this winter. Warm and soft shearling is lamb's wool left on the skin and is used as an accent on outerwear. If you have issues with wearing real fur you can find faux shearling to wear with a clear conscience. You will see shearling on lapels, as trim and even vests are showing up on runways. Like most trends a bit goes a long way so don't overdo it.

It's a Bird, It's a Plane!

No it's this winter's funkiest and hottest plus size clothing for women accessory – a cape. The most flattering length stops at the hip. This way you don't end up looking like a superhero. You also want a full circle cape to give you a good clean line and avoid looking like you've been swallowed up by it. If you are on the petite side you may want to forego this trend since it may overwhelm you, but if you find the right cut and length you could pull it off. Wear a cape with other on trend pieces and if you want more shape use a belt at the waist for a bit of a different look.

These are just three of the hottest trends this winter. Have fun, be confident and remember, plus size clothing for women doesn't mean boring.
